Burst Typer

What students practice

Students practice typing common letter chunks such as blends and digraphs like sh or ing, typing a highlighted chunk in one continuous burst rather than letter by letter.

How to play

Players type a word's letters to chip at an ice rock, with a gold-boxed chunk cracking the rock for a bigger hit when typed in one quick burst; pausing too long inside a chunk makes it fizzle and the chunk must be retyped. A wrong key shows the correct one, and letting three rocks hit ends the mission.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose the letter chunks in play, from starter blends and digraphs up to all four sets, and set the longest pause allowed inside a chunk along with overall speed, plus whether the answer is shown after a miss; the end screen offers a printable student report listing the chunks practiced.
