Shift Shuttle

TypingCapital LettersGrades 3–6Keyboard

What students practice

Students practice capitalization rules, typing a sentence shown all in lowercase and deciding which words need a capital: the first word, the word I, names, days, months, holidays, and places.

How to play

Players type the sentence, holding Shift for each letter that needs to be capitalized, to fly their shuttle to the dock before the fuel bar runs out. A wrong capital stops the shuttle and shows the rule that applies, and that sentence returns later; three lost shields end the flight.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose which capital rules are in play, beyond the always-included first word and the word I, and set typing speed; the end screen offers a printable student report listing the capital rules and the skills to practice.
