Signal Sprint

Mental Math SpeedDivision JumpsGrades 3–6Keyboard

What students practice

Students practice division as equal jumps from 0 to a target, finding either the size of each hop or how many hops it takes, across divisors from 2, 5, and 10 up to all of 2 through 12.

How to play

A signal needs to jump from 0 to a receiver dish in equal hops; players turn a dial with the left and right arrow keys, the number keys, or the plus and minus buttons to set the missing number, then press SEND (Space or Enter), with a fast send earning a speed bonus. Letting a dish's ring run out costs one of three shields, and a miss shows the right hops before that one is asked again.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose divisors of 2, 5, and 10, or 3, 4, and 6, or 7, 8, 9, and 12, or all of 2 through 12, and set whether the missing number is the hop size or the hop count. A printable student report lists skills to practice.
