Code Cadet
What students practice
Students practice tracing code, loops, and algorithms, reading a short program line by line and working out where a rover will stop, using commands that can include arrow directions, turn commands relative to the rover's own facing, and REPEAT loops that run their inner lines a set number of times.
How to play
Players press the letter key of a beacon (A, B, C, or D) to answer before the launch bar runs out; a wrong beacon or no answer costs a shield, and every five correct repairs one. A miss has the rover run the program step by step itself before that program returns later.
Teacher Setup
Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose which commands are in play (arrow directions; turn and forward commands; REPEAT loops), the program length, the speed, and whether the answer is shown after a miss. The end-of-mission report includes a printable list of programs to trace on grid paper and a note on which skill to review.
