What students practice

Students practice ordering, comparing, and adding negative numbers, docking a reading into the one correct open rung of a four-rung stack that must stay in order from coldest at the bottom to warmest at the top, judging each reading against its neighbors.

How to play

Players press 1 through 4 (1 is the bottom rung), or move with the up and down arrows and press the space bar, to dock a reading. Filling all four rungs in order earns a bonus; letting three readings hit the vent shuts the core down. A wrong dock has the machine show where the reading belonged before it returns later.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose which readings are in the chute (ordering only, add and subtract, or all three), how the scale is read, the speed, and whether the answer is shown after a miss. The end-of-run report includes a printable list of skills to practice.
