Latitude Launch
What students practice
Students practice reading latitude and longitude coordinates, such as 30 degrees north 60 degrees west, starting with latitude alone before combining both.
How to play
A coordinate such as a direction and degree count appears; players press the up or down arrow keys to slide a sled north or south to the right latitude line, wait for the turning planet to bring the right longitude line under the sled, then press LAUNCH (Space or Enter). A colony's clock running out costs one of three shields, and a miss turns the planet to show the location before that colony calls again later.
Teacher Setup
Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose Latitude Only, Latitude plus Longitude, or Everything, set grid lines every 15 degrees for more lines to read, hide the coordinate readout so students read the globe itself, set the speed, and choose whether a miss reveals the answer. A printable student report lists coordinates to practice.
