Lexicon Lander
What students practice
Students practice using context clues to work out word meanings, reading sentences that are revealed one at a time and choosing among two or four landing pads holding possible meanings, with word lists selectable by grade band; landing after fewer clues pays a bigger bonus.
How to play
Players use the left and right arrow keys to steer and dodge ion mines, pressing the space bar or down arrow to cut the engine and land on whichever pad they are over. Hovering and mine hits both burn fuel, and running dry drops the lander wherever it happens to be. Landing on the wrong pad has the machine explain the word's meaning before that word returns later.
Teacher Setup
Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose which word lists are in play, how many landing pads appear per word, the fuel and mine density, and whether the meaning is shown after a miss. The end-of-mission report includes a printable list of words to practice.
