Syllable Ship
What students practice
Students practice counting syllables and word parts, clapping once per syllable to load cargo pods under a drifting word, with word length ranges (all 1-4, 1 and 2, or 3 and 4 syllables) and word banks, including a compound-word and a content-vocabulary bank, selectable by a teacher.
How to play
Players press the space bar once per syllable, then press Enter to lock in the count before the time bar runs out; Backspace restarts the count. A correct count docks the freighter and shows the word split into syllables, such as but-ter-fly; letting three freighters crash into the dock ends the mission.
Teacher Setup
Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose which word lengths and word banks are in play, the speed, and whether the syllable split is shown after a miss. The end-of-mission report includes a printable list of words to practice, with space to write the syllable count and mark the split.
