Measure Bay

What students practice

Students practice reading a measuring rule and converting units of length and volume, setting a caliper's gap to match an order that can be given in a different unit than the rule shows, such as an order in centimeters on a rule marked in meters.

How to play

Players use A and D to move the left jaw and the left and right arrow keys to move the right jaw, pressing the space bar to clamp once the gap matches the order. A load's hold timer runs out after three misses and closes the bay; a wrong clamp has the machine show the correct reading before that order returns later.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose which measurement rules are fitted to the bay (all four, or length only, in cm and L), whether orders are given in another unit than the rule, and the speed. The end-of-run report includes a printable list of skills to practice.
