Tower Transfer

What students practice

Students practice Towers of Hanoi logic, moving an entire stack of rings onto a target pylon one ring at a time, never placing a larger ring on a smaller one, and can learn that the fewest moves for n rings is 2 multiplied by itself n times, minus 1.

How to play

Players press number keys 1, 2, 3, or A, S, D, to lift a pylon's top ring and place it on another, aiming to finish in the fewest moves for a perfect bonus before fuel runs out. Breaking the one-ring rule shows the best move, and running out of fuel plays the fastest solution for the student to study before that tower returns later; losing three freighters ends the mission.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher set the number of rings from a starter two to three up to a challenge four to five, choose whether towers start fully stacked or already split across all three pylons, and add a hint arrow after a long pause, plus speed and whether the answer is shown after a miss; the end screen offers a printable student report listing the ring counts practiced.
