Capital Comet

GeographyState CapitalsGrades 3–6Keyboard

What students practice

Students practice naming the capital city of each US state, picking it out from three other cities floating nearby.

How to play

A state name appears and four cities drift in space; players hold the left or right arrow key to curve a comet in a full loop around the capital to catch it. The comet melts near the sun if play is too slow, costing one of three shields, and looping the wrong city reveals the right one before the state comes back later.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup covers all 50 states, lets a teacher turn on Big-City Traps that place a famous but incorrect city such as Chicago or Los Angeles next to the real capital, set the speed, and choose whether a miss shows the answer. A printable student report lists capitals to practice.

Play it in Starship Arcade
