Crossword Comet

What students practice

Students practice matching a given answer word to the crossword clue it fits, checking that the word is the right length and matches any letters already filled in on the grid.

How to play

Players use the arrow keys to aim a comet at a clue or square, then press space to dive the word in once it fits, before the comet's tail burns out. A wrong fit shows where the word belongs, and that word returns in a later puzzle; three misses end the mission.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose the word topics by grade and the word length, and turn on a fit preview that shows ghost letters and clashes while aiming, plus speed and whether the answer is shown after a miss; the end screen offers a printable take-home clue sheet of words to practice.
