Energy Engine

ScienceEnergy TransformationsGrades 3–6Keyboard

What students practice

Students practice energy transformation chains, such as chemical to battery to electrical to motor to motion, choosing machines whose energy output matches what the next step needs.

How to play

A cell shows the energy it holds and what the core needs; players press a machine's number key to change the cell's energy, with some jobs needing two machines in a row. Letting a cell reach the core with the wrong energy blows a fuse, three fuses end the run, and a miss shows the correct chain before that job is asked again.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose All Machines, Everyday Power, Plant, or Living Things sets (six machines load into the bay each run), set chain length to one or two steps, and choose whether a miss reveals the answer. A printable student report lists energy changes to practice.
