What students practice

Students practice separating mixtures methods such as filtering and evaporating, choosing between dry mixtures, solids in liquid, or a filter-versus-evaporate comparison.

How to play

A jar sits in a catapult above five separating machines; players press the left and right arrow keys to aim, the up and down arrow keys to add or drop charge, and Space to launch, following a dotted line that shows exactly where the jar will land. Letting a fizzing jar's bar run out boils it over, three boil-overs close the lab, and a wrong machine shows which one does the job and why before that mixture returns later.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose All Five methods, Dry Mixtures, Solids In Liquid, or Filter versus Evaporate, set a relaxed starting speed, and choose whether a miss reveals the answer. A printable student report lists mixtures to practice.
