Magnet Mission

ScienceMagnetismGrades 3–6Keyboard

What students practice

Students practice telling magnetic materials like iron, steel, nickel, and cobalt from non-magnetic ones like plastic, wood, glass, copper, aluminum, and gold, and matching a bar magnet's pole to the job it needs.

How to play

Salvage drifts toward a crane electromagnet; players press A or the left arrow key for the N pole, Space for OFF, or D or the right arrow key for the S pole, setting the switch before each piece reaches the field. Three wrong calls end the shift.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose Everything, Materials Only, Poles Only, or a First Lesson set, and add tricky non-magnetic metals like copper, aluminum, gold, brass, silver, and zinc as a knob of their own. A printable student report lists skills to practice.
