Element Orbit

What students practice

Students practice periodic table facts, matching an element's name, atomic number, or a fun fact about its use to the right element symbol, across the first 10, first 20, or all 32 elements in play.

How to play

Electrons carrying element symbols orbit a nucleus showing a clue; players press the left and right arrow keys to fly a probe around the outside and press Space to fire a capture beam at the first electron it lines up with. Electrons slowly spiral inward, so letting the matching one reach the nucleus costs one of three shields, and a wrong capture shows the answer before it is asked again later.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose the first 10, first 20, or all 32 elements, switch the clue type between name, atomic number, or fun fact, set the speed, and choose whether a miss reveals the answer. A printable student report lists elements to practice.
