Planet Probe

ScienceSolar SystemGrades 3–6Keyboard

What students practice

Students practice identifying the planets of the solar system from direct names or descriptive clues, covering all eight planets or just the inner four or outer four.

How to play

A radar arm sweeps around the sun on its own; players press the arrow keys to slide the probe in or out along the arm so it sits at the right orbit when the arm reaches the named planet. Reaching the wrong planet breaks a streak, letting a request's time run out costs one of three shields, and a miss has the sky stop while the planet is named before that request returns later.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose All Eight planets, the Inner Four, or the Outer Four, set the speed (which changes how much time and how many requests arrive, not how fast the arm moves), show or hide planet names on the map, and choose whether a miss reveals the answer. A printable student report lists worlds to practice.
