If Then Ion

Logic and ReasoningIf-Then RulesGrades 3–6Keyboard

What students practice

Students practice if-then logical reasoning, reading a rule, a fact, and a claim, then deciding whether the claim is true, false, or can't tell, with reasoning moves set from a starter level (only the if part happening) up through the classic traps of reading a rule backwards or flipping it.

How to play

Players press the left arrow, down arrow, or right arrow (or 1, 2, 3) to send an ion to the true, false, or can't tell exit port as its orbit grows; a wrong port or hitting the wall costs a shield, and three lost shields ends the mission. Answering fast earns a bigger bonus, and five correct in a row wins a shield back. A miss has the ring show why before that claim returns later.

Teacher Setup

Teacher Setup lets a teacher choose which reasoning moves are in play (starter, grades 4-5, or everything), the speed, and whether the answer is shown after a miss. The end-of-mission report includes a printable list of skills to practice, and tracks reasoning-move accuracy separately.
